Op- thanks for the suggestions

LOL - do not go to the Puppet Theatre at Glen Echo. The ladies that work there are well known for their inability to understand that children sometimes move and/or make noise. The live theatre next door, The Adventure Theatre at Glen Echo, is great. They fully expect the kids to shout out and get excited during performances and their actors skillfully work it in to the show. Imagination Stage in Bethesda does have a special glassed in "Quiet Room". Call them and find out if your child could enjoy the show from that location (I think it is supposed to be used by nursing moms with crying infants, but I never did quite understand what it was for).

Not specifically sensory-friendly, but the little kids shows at Imagination Stage (for ages 1-5) are short and have lots of movement and participation.

I haven't been, but a friend really liked the sensory-friendly performance at Imagination Stage mainstage. The folks at IS are really nice, so if you called and explained what you/your son needs, I'm sure they'd be able to tell you which shows would be best.

The Kennedy Center offers sensory-friendly performances.

(I would NOT recommend the puppet show at Glen Echo.)

My DS 4 has HFA. He really enjoys the weekly concerts at his preschool, but is unable to sit still through the 20 minute period. We would like to take him to other performances around the DC metro area. Any suggestions for sensory friendly performances, movies or concerts/plays where it is ok if he stands up and talks quietly ?
