Most schools do not give 100% aid.
There are many, many more costs associated with private school besides the tuition. Take into account before and after care costs, child care on closed days, different vacation cycles from public school, longer summer vacations which equal more need for summer camps/summer care, annual giving and fundraisers, teacher gifts throughout the year, volunteer requests, school supplies, etc
This is why in the end I still went public. I got a decent aid package (as a single mom making 115k so DEFINITELY apply) and tuition was only
going to be 7k out of pocket BUT the summer was longer, the fundraisers were intimating and aftercare was more expensive comparatively to our local public. Also the private didn't have busing so that was a factor as well as a single mom being solely responsible for pick ups and drop offs.
