We just got back yesterday. Its cheaper to fly into Tampa and drive to Orlando which will take about an hour and five minutes. Easy drive and the fare from dc to Tampa is 150.00 roundtrip.

Is there any other advantage to driving v. flying? We will be staying on site, at the Caribbean Beach Resort if it makes any difference. Last time we used the car once or twice to get out of property, but we stayed in one of those value resorts.

FLY, that's what we did for about that same price. Check out Jet Blue out of DCA, direct and everyone has their own TV, kids loved it!!

Driving means 95. Doesn't that make the decision easy?

We just got back from Disney and we drove. We stopped (as planned) in Brunswick GA on the way down and did it all in one day on the way back. Really not that bad and we were able to pack a little more liberally. Either way, have fun!

We drove last year and I was ready to fling myself out the window somewhere in Georgia. Too much traffic, too, too long. Fly if it's at all feasible, especially if you think you can get by without a rental car.

No fee. It's part of the Disney Magic Express. Free shuttle service to your hotel, bags delivered to the room. Note: the "shuttle" is a full-size passenger bus. So it's not like 8 people or anything.

I have not seen direct flights for 4 totally $740 -- so if you can do it, I say buy them asap.

We are actually planning to drive down for a cruise this summer. First time we've ever taken that long of a trip with the kids. We're not looking forward to the drive, but it'll save us about $1500 (flights and car rental to the port). Well, I guess we have to subtract about $300 for our hotel and gas costs. So, it'll save us $1200... but we're going to give it a try. Normally, however, we fly.

Op here - family of 3. Still on the cheaper side I think.

For $740? FLY!!! It'll cost that much in gas and hotels to get there (or your sanity if you try to do it in one day)

Fly! Direct from DCA is under 2 hours. Since you are on property, take the Disney Magic Express. You can have your bags delivered from the airport to your room (you don't need to go to baggage claim)and check them at your resort on the day you return home.
