Paragard IUD! No hormones. No constant bleeding like you had with Mirena (I had the same experience, hated it so much). It is good for 10 years. The ONLY downside is heavier periods compared to hormonal birth control. Totally worth it, in my opinion.

I use the fertility monitor to determine fertile days and avoid a few days before and after the smiley face.

My cycle is very regular, so that helps.

Check research on nuva ring and blood clots. I say this a former user who loved it. I now have a paraguard.

Have you considered NuvaRing? You can stack it.

OP, have you considered acupuncture to deal with your cycle issues? I tried it for infertility, and although that was ultimately unsuccessful, it made a huge impact on my period symptoms. Sounds like the issue here is more your period than actually trying to prevent a pregnancy?

PP here - sorry didn't read the OP complete. I see that the Mirena didn't work for you. That's too bad.

I'm 43 and am sick of the pill. I've tried LoSeasonique, Loestrin 24FE, Junel, Yaz, mini-pill and all make me feel horrible. I've also tried Mirena (not for me-constant bleeding). I have fibroids/horrible periods. If you're over the age of 40 with horrible periods, what birth control are you using. Ablation?
