Ghirardelli also makes Sweet Ground Chocolate, which looks like cocoa but is sweetened. There's a brownie recipe on the can that I've been making for 10+years. They're the perfect texture: chewy without tasting fake. Even better with 60% Ghirardelli chocolate chips added instead of nuts. Mmmm.

If you want a flaky brownies top, add 2 oz of coco power to the flour and mix in the 12:42 brownie recipe. Let me know if you make it and how it turns out!

Brownies
16 tbsp. unsalted butter,
   plus more for greasing
8 oz. bittersweet chocolate,
   cut into 1?4" pieces
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed dark brown
   sugar
2 tsp. vanilla extract
1?2 tsp. fine salt
1 cup flour

1. Heat oven to 325°. Grease a 9" x 13" baking pan with butter and lightly flour. Set pan aside.

2. (melt butter and chocolate on low heat)Pour enough water into a 4-quart saucepan that it reaches a depth of 1". Bring to a boil; reduce heat to low. Combine butter and chocolate in a medium bowl; set bowl over saucepan. Cook, stirring, until melted and smooth, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; set aside.

3. Whisk together eggs in a large bowl. Add sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and salt; whisk to combine. Stir in chocolate mixture; fold in flour. Pour batter into prepared pan; spread evenly. Bake until a toothpick inserted into center comes out clean, 30–35 minutes. Let cool on a rack. Cut and serve.

I also like the Ghiradelli mix. I add a layer, though: cream cheese, powdered sugar, mint extract, a drop or two of green food coloring to make it look minty, and miniature chocolate chips. Mix well, drop on top of the batter in spoonfuls, bake per the normal instructions. Or it can be layered in the middle of the batter.

Yes. The only brownies I make now. I wasted a lot of time with scratch recipes but realized it was a waste of time since everyone raves over the mix brownies. If you add 2 tbsp. of espresso powder they are even better. You can also add a cheesecake swirl, caramel topping, Nutella, etc. to make them more unique.

I'm on a quest to find an easy recipe that makes dark, chewy and not too sweet brownies. I've had no luck with quite a few I found out there, even one from Bittman with prunes (they were gross).
