This looks like a much more reasonable trip, $-wise, than GW Lodge.

We have always just done the water park, so I'm not sure about the snow tubing, but I have a friend that likes the skiing/snow tubing as well. It is totally doable for an overnight. We did it as a day trip one time.

I'm not a skier, but snow tubing is a blast.

I like going to the Massanutten water park near Harrisonburg, VA. We stayed in Harrisonburg at a hotel that was $89/night, and we ate dinner at Cici's. I got a coupon, so dinner was $20 for the 4 of us, and they have free dessert, and they are totally peanut and tree nut free.

I have been checking some sites, since you say you don't ski, you'll either want a place with a town with things to do, or a resort with multiple non-skiing activities. So, Philly, NYC, Baltimore, or somewhere like the Homestead, Woodloch...You could go to s ski area like Bryce, (close to Luray) Wintergreen Timberline Snowshoe or Liberty, outfit the kids for skiing, sign them up for ski day camp and spend your day in the hot tub at your condo.

We were thinking of Great Wolfe Lodge but the prices are ridiculous. Can anyone recommend a relatively close destination or resort to take middle-schoolers where they would have activities to amuse themselves for a while so the parents can relax a bit? Places like Landsdowne seem like they would get boring for the kids after a dip in the pool. We're looking for a place that has more than that. We're not skiiers, so I know that greatly reduces options. Greenbrier looks good but is a bit far, and it's also expensive.
