I have an AAP and gen ed child one year behind. At our center, the gen ed's tests are about 1/2 - 2/3 the content the AAP kids had. Also, they read much fewer books (which I thought were way too difficult for the AAP kids anyway). Homework load is very similar.

Amount HW is dependent on the teacher.

Amazingly, its not per the AAP program, or the school -- its all on the teacher.
Different AAP classes in the same grade at the same center school get wildly different amounts of homework, and project assignments.

depends on the teacher. I have 2 in 3rd aap. 1 has LOTS of HW every night. The other has a little HW every night, but has projects (long term) every month.

I don't know if it's any harder or different from gen ed because I have nothing to compare it to. homework ranges from none to 11/2 hours. on average i would say 1/2 hr a night.

Very little homework in 3rd grade AAP at our center school.

How much harder is the AAP curriculum and how many hours/night for homework?
