A word to the wise, GBRS is only as good as the 2nd grade teachers ability and experience. Most are good, but not all!

Actually according to the timeline on boarddocs the GBRS is supposed to be done for pool candidates by Feb 8th, the file is submitted to central screening by feb 25. There is a different timeline for GBRS for referrals and their files are sent at a different date.

I found what GBRS is - a gifted behavior questionnaire filled out by the school for kids in the pool.

They don't even know the GBRS yet.....after February 7, the local committee meets and creates a file for each student ( in the pool and referred) Included n this file is the GBRS with commentary. Then the file is sent to the central committee where decisions are made. Our AART wouldn't release my son's file (last year) until decisions were returned from the central committee. I have a copy just for reference.

Yup-has to go to central selection committee first, and then most of them will tell you before acceptance letters come back

According to page 7 of the Parent Information Packet - "A copy of the file may be provided by the local school to parents or guardians by request after the file has been completed". I don't know if other school's interpret this differently, but at DC's school, the AART would make a copy available upon request after it was sent to the central selection committee.

Our child is in the Level IV pool. Can we ask our AART for the GBRS?
