Major meat eater, but I love samosa, chana masala, murg mahkani, palak paneer, and mattar paneer. I prefer red and green curries to yellow, but that's just my preference.

I like lamb rogan josh and palak paneer. However at Indique we always get the cauliflower.

many places serve thali plates--which will be a few small tastes of different dishes. Easy way to try a few different things.

Why don't you tell us what Indian restaurant is near you and you are considering going to and then maybe we can tell you what is good there?
Otherwise this question is a bit like asking "what are the good dishes at an Italian restaurant?" It kinda matters where you're eating.

Butter chicken is fabulous. Saag is good, with chicken or paneer. And of course naan. Mmmm.

Saag Paneer, Baigan Bharta, Lamb Rogan Josh, all the different breads, Kheer (rice pudding) for afters (not fond of gulab jamun). Maybe try a well-reviewed Indian buffet, sometime, so you can try a bit of everything.

My sister loves baigan bharta, which is eggplant-based. I do not like eggplant, but have had a couple bites and it was pretty good. I like aloo gobi, which is cauliflower and potato. I also have been getting paneer masala, which they have at restaurants where the paneer is less like cottage cheese and more solid. It's delightful, though the chicken tikka will be basically the same thing, not vegetarian.

Bethesda Women's Market (on Wisconsin) has an Indian stall that has great dishes--Saag Paneer, Chicken Curry, Vegetable Korma, different lentils, samosas, etc. You can try out combinations. Sometimes, goat and fish curry.
Also, South Indian dishes are spicy and different from the more widely available North Indian food. Dosas, Uttapam, spicy fried fish. South Indian restaurants will usually have more vegetarian dishes.

I like Saag Paneer and any kind of Daal. And I'm not vegetarian either.

I've been to Rasika a few times, but I have no experience with the mom-and-pop places. I like spicy foods and am not a vegetarian. What's good other than standards like vindaloo and tikka masala?
