OP you don't even know what the OOB process will look like after the boundary review process. I would apply for Eaton with your Ib preference and put it first. That is where you live now and when you plug in your address via the application it will automatically give you IB preference so it's not even possible to apply OOB to Eaton.

OP, if I were you, I'd email the principal with your question. If your lucky you'll receive a positive response that you can produce later when you have actually moved. Don't be put off by all the grumps on this thread. You're smart to try and figure this out now. As for Eop we're at Barnard and are very happy. I hear great things about Powell and West. Good luck

You might not think it is over crowded but we have friends whose kid is and IB sibling and didn't get into PK4 until the end of October. There are legitimate families applying for the spots. Time for you to move on.

Oh my goodness. For the zillionth time, I was asking because I am about to play the lottery and wanted to know where to put eaton on my list of lottery preferences. This wasn't a scheming question - it was a lottery question. I am a legitimate Eaton family that has owned a very small condo IB for the last 3.5 years. It is (maybe) possible we will still be here in the fall as we've been looking for almost a year and can't find anything we can afford but it is likely we will eventually move (when I don't know) , so I am still playing the lottery.

Eaton is at full capacity AND it feeds into overcrowded Deal and Wilson.

Wow. And we wonder why NW schools are overcrowded?

PP is right that in principle OP should lose her spot...but in practice most people I know (at another very popular NW school) don't. The principal prefers to let people stay...and then complain how overcrowded the school is.

You will lose your IB spot at Eaton if you move OOB. You just haven't been there long enough for the school to justify keeping you on.

If, however, you subsequently apply to the OOB lottery for Eaton and get in, under current regulations you will have the right to attend Eaton no matter where you live and you will also have feeder privileges to Deal and Wilson.

We are IB for Easton (pk4) and will likely be IB when fall slots are assigned in March. But we are looking EoP for a bigger place (right now we are 700 sq feet and a family of 4 - can't afford a three bedroom wop).

If we move this summer or even in September after we get our eaton slot, do we loose it? I am just wondering about the lottery. I would put eaton 1st and, since we have boundary preference, we'd likely get in, but if we are going to loose our slot once we move EoP, I'd put other OB schools before it since we won't loose those slots if we move.

Also if we can keep eaton when we move, does that mean, under current rules, we can go to Deal (or likely Hardy) and Wilson no matter where we live?
