I am personally happy to pay the tax.

As for your subject line, the only thing that is "like rape" is RAPE.

Pay now or pay later.

Do you want to pay for preventative healthcare, schools, food assistance, and other programs that might actually help children in poverty to escape the cycle - or would you rather pay for catastrophic health issues treated in the emergency room, vandalism and violence from unemployed and disaffected citizens, and jails.

Stop bitching and moaning about all the freeloader adults who you think are bilking the system (I'm sure there are some, but wouldn't you rather err on the side of compassion?) and think about the children of those people who had the misfortune to be born into poverty with no way out.

- a family who makes more than $250k.

One day you'll be on Medicare and someone will be paying it for you. I'd shut up if I were you and stop complaining about helping our seniors.

1) That tax began in 2013, not this year. So if this affects you and you didn't notice it last year, you obviously didn't miss the money.

2) The additional tax is marginal. It doesn't apply until the first dollar of income above those mentioned thresholds. It's not like they levy the tax from the first dollar earned.

Me? I noticed it. I make between $200,000 and $250,000 and am married. I'll get it back as a credit when I do my tax returns.

It equaled about $80 a month, in November and December.

I will gladly pay the tax (we're just over the limit), and you suck for calling this rape.

Do you think the cost of living in DC is lower for people making $45K?

Yeah, OP, that title is really disgusting and offensive. I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you didn't quite mean it to come across that way.

Rape is no joke.

If you are earning more than $200k/year and complaining about taxes, move out of the country.

Try to be a little more offensive with your subject line. Go ahead. I'm sure you have it in you.

It is highly offensive to use the term rape in this context.

And, no, I am fine with paying the tax.

I am not

Under ObamaCare, individual tax filers earning more than $200,000 and families earning more than $250,000 will pay an added 0.9 percent Medicare surtax on top of the existing 1.45 percent Medicare payroll tax. They’ll also pay an extra 3.8 percent Medicare tax on unearned income, such as investment dividends, rental income and capital gains.
