Sorry for typo.

Can someone explain what does it mean by "132 or above on any part of the CogAt". Dose that mean Q, V or N any of these sections?

OP here. Camelot elementary. I removed that part from the email at first but on second thought don't see why not to share it

My daughter's teacher mentioned on her Thursday update that Fairfax City students should be getting notification by the end of this week.

Surprised they are not going by the composite score this year. We'll see if this email is true.

Still ridiculous that they don't have score reports ready after 3 months. But yes, at least let parents know this week if the kid is or is not in the pool-that is the least they can do!

OP here - from what I've seen on this board over the past couple if years this is pretty normal. My guess is the scores go first to the people who determine who is and isn't in pool. So those letters go to the school to be sent out quickly because of the parent referral deadline. It's more important to get the pool letters out in time for that deadline than the actual scores.

It's the same thing--just a different version for FCPS. You can use the terms interchangeably.

Since there are always questions about timing/delivery of pool letters and cutoff scores, O share the following email our principal just sent:

As you know, your child took a Cognitive Abilities (CogAt) test in the fall of this school year. We are awaiting the results from the FCPS testing office, and will mail them to you just as soon as we receive them. These scores are used as part of the screening for Level IV Advanced Academic Program (AAP) services. If your student scored a 132 or above on any part of the CogAt, you child is automatically included in a pool of students who are screened for Level IV AAP services. If a student did not score a 132 or above, a parent still can refer the student for screening. Parent referrals and accompanying paperwork are due on February 3. Please see the AAP website for forms and FAQs http://www.fcps.edu/is/aap/index.shtml.

While we do not have the scores, we do have the information about the pool students. Pool letters for identified students were put in the mail this afternoon. We realize that with bad weather approaching and with the parent referral deadline of February 3, we need to get this information out to you without waiting for the scores. If your child’s test scores did not qualify him or her for the pool, you will not receive a letter.
