Where'd you get the real noodle soup?

Place in Vienna. I will investigate the other options at a later time.

Oh to add, when the spouse same home a question about a skunk smell in the kitchen was asked after I had eaten the noodle soup. LOL.

MaMa Wok in Reston.
100 Degrees Chinese in Fairfax.

Both are "squeaky clean" with very upscale modern vibe.
(100 Deg even get Tom Sietsema's vote).

But the cooking is top notch -- very popular with the chinese community around -- and there aren't that many authentic ones out in western FFX county.

Very different types of chinese food though.
MaMa Wok is more Taiwanese style, while 100 Degrees specializes in Sichuan style (excellent spicy food).

Not Chinese, but Taste of Burma in sterling might work for you. Some of thier dishes are similar to Chinese. Thier food is delicious. And the place is nice and clean.

Hunan Taste is opening up a branch in Fairfax (currently in Baltimore). They do great "real" and "american" chinese and have a super clean upscale vibe.

Ugh. Cheng's. That place has been there forever and I've never understood the appeal (I grew up in Sterling). It's overpriced and the food isn't spectacular, but the decor does provide good entertainment for kids.

We like Cheng's in Sterling and I do believe people travel from a ways to go there. When we moved to the area, people kept asking us, "Have you tried Cheng's Have you tried Cheng's?" We have been to China and have adopted a child from China, so we do know real Chinese food. But it is large and clean, and has lots of interesting decorations for the "American-y Chinese aficionados" (like a pond in the middle, with a little bubbling brook and fish, and a bridge that crosses over it), and has both "real" and "Americanized" Chinese food.

Not necessarily looks like PF Change but what you described looks ok. For me I feel like I am getting a good deal when the place is run down and the food is good. On the opposite site the spouse's appetite does get affected by the upkeep of the restaurant.

Ok here is my dilemma.

I truly enjoy "real" Chinese food, places in the falls church / Annandale area and some places in Chinatown DC. As you know the best food doesn't always come with the most updated restaurant or perceived cleanliness (perceived as in older 70s like décor and old seats, tables, carpet etc...)

So far every place that I like either doesn't have "good" fake American Chinese food (general tso, etc...) or the perceived cleanness / décor updating isn't up to par.

What I am looking for is a place that looks like PF Changes but has the real Chinese food along with good fake American Chinese food.

One place that has appeased the spouse is Peking duck in Falls Church but that isn't easily accessible and is usually a big night out.

Am I out of luck?

McLean, Tysons Falls Church area please (or farther if it's that good).
