Do you have a crock pot? I love mine. I drop a frozen chicken breast in with some baby carrots and other veggies if I have time to cut them, cover with a store bought sauce, and turn to low. 5-7 hours later, I have a hot dinner.

I ate a lot of nuts and dried fruit (and peanut m&ms!) during the early months. High fat but "good" fats, high energy, easy to eat with one hand, and tasty.

You can buy yourself a big tray of veggies already washed and cut up at any of the major grocery stores. Buy hummus to go with them.

You can also buy a pre-made fruit salad, though I must say they're not the tastiest this time of year. All of that cutting up of fruit is a pain with little kids around.

You can make a big batch of oatmeal (I like the casserole kinds- google "baked oatmeal" and you're sure to come up with something). Reheat portions in the morning.

I think hard-boiled eggs are a great idea - boil the entire dozen and put them back in the egg carton for an easy snack. You can also slice up several bricks of cheese and eat with olives and pickles, etc.

Wow, OP -- I was imaging you downing an entire bag of marshmallows dipped in Nutella or something. I don't have anything to add to the previous suggestions, but if ever there was a time to let the grocery store do the prep work -- washed lettuce, rotisserie chicken -- this is it.

agree with the rotisserie chicken. You need some protein. Hummus is good, too, and maybe some lunch meat. A family member brought me a slab of prime rib and it was amazing -- lasted for a week, maybe buy the premade for when you are starving (especially if you are BF).

Steam in bag frozen veggies are good -- add salt and possibly olive oil so they are a veggie side.

Some fresh fruit (bananas are good snacks), grapes, berries, avocados, all really good foods to include.

Good luck OP! You sound really together despite how you may have felt when you wrote this post.

^^^PP here with more:

Big batch of roasted vegetables: Potatoes, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, beets, carrots. Microwave for lunch.
Pre-washed lettuce from the store, top with heated roasted vegetables and aforementioned chicken as well as raisins or craisins and some nuts.

Rotisserie chicken, which you can eat over a period of days.
Veggie tray with dip (Costco has them)
Easy to eat fruit: Bananas, grapes, apples
Hummous with pita, baba ganoush is also good
Avocados: Cut in half and eat with a spoon lightly salted. Very satisfying "good fat"
Along the same lines, guacamole or hummous with veggies for dipping
Babybel cheese (individual portions) or cheese sticks
Canned lentil soup - Amy's is excellent as is the Trader Joe's brand
Quick quesadillas - tortillas with spinach and cheese in the middle
Grilled cheese with sliced tomatoes

Hey OP. How about fresh berries with some yogurt and granola? I also like making a huge pot of chili and eating a bowl a day. Lots of veggies in there plus protein. What does your 2 yr old eat? You should try to make healthy meals you both can eat so you are not preparing 2 meals every time. Good luck! Those first 6 months are hard but it gets better.

Thank you for the great suggestions and kind words

My mom flew in from the west coast to help out. Her financial situation has changed since she recently lost her job and she is unable to come out this time.

While I really appreciated all of her help last time I will say that the meals/ snacks she made werent the healthiest. The first thing she likes to do upon arrival is to go to the grocery store and load up on cakes and candies and sodas ( stuff we dont typically keep in the house).

I am in desparate need of help. I just had a baby and am having trouble figuring out what to eat every day.

Before the baby I ate breakfast lunch and dinner out of the house at restaurants near my job.

Now that im home all day Im having trouble juggling nursing the newborn, entertaining the 2 year old and eating healthy.

DH did go grocery shopping and the fridge is stocked. The problem is I dont think he brought the right items but I cant criticize him bc I have no suggestions on what he should have bought. I am having trouble coming up with ideas for healthy quick and easy post partum snacks and meals.

Today for example I ate 6 dinner rolls, baked potato with toppings, pb and j sandwich, 5 baby carrots, 1 orange, several glasses of water, several glasses of lemonade.

I need to eat better.

When I was in the hospital, right after I delivered the baby they gave me carrots, celery and hummus. I thoroughly enjoyed that snack and am looking for similar things I can snack on throughout the day.

Please help me with ideas on what I can/ should be eating throughout the day.
