I was on the campus last year and it seemed fine, not the most interesting neighborhood and probably some crime around, but it is a big city and I suspect the neighborhood is pretty typical. Would not have a problem with the neighborhood but not sure why I would send my child off to a middling public university paying out of state rates unless there was a particular draw.
