Subject: In the Meantime: The "Waiting Game"
It's rough, OP. DC did early decision, so we'll hear on that in early February. If DC isn't accepted to that school, we'll be in for two long months of waiting. I'm finding the anticipation comes and goes in waves. Hang in there!

I'm assuming your DC has applied to a good range of reach, likely, and safeties. If so, my advice is fake it until you make it. Keep telling your DC: "You applied to a lot of great schools, and no matter what happens with admission, you are going to have good options. You've done everything you can do, now, just relax and enjoy your senior year."
As a parent, try to relax and enjoy this time with you DC. Find a little time to do fun stuff together. If you are looking at a lot more free time next year (and that may not be true if you have more DCs at home), start thinking about the fun stuff you will be able to do. The big thing to avoid for you and for your child is getting fixated on one school-stay flexible and open to the possibilities.
