I hope you sent them home in the middle of the night OP. Your poor daughter.

How close are these friends? If they are reasonably close and normally good kids, this might be something they saw or read about and think of as a "prank." Mean and bad judgment, absolutely. But not sure I'd call the school. I would have taken some pictures and had your DD sleep with you, and then first thing early in the morning call the parents to come over and discuss it.

OP, I feel sad for your daughter. Her friends were mean and betrayed her trust. How do they expect to fix that?

OP, please come back this morning for an update. This is so horrible and I'm thinking of you and your daughter. I don't have any advice, and am trying to consider how I would react in this situation. Best of luck!

I would march downstairs, wake them up and let them have it. Then I would call their parents.

Would it be too much to report the incident to your daughter's school? Bullying has to be documented. I'm sure those so called friends will tell everyone about what they did because they think it is funny. Make sure they didn't take and post or send pictures of their handiwork. Have their parents go through their phones and delete the pictures if there are any, unless they already sent it out. Then it shouldn't be deleted because it is evidence.

If you can't get ahold of the other parents let DD sleep with you. They need to go home ASAP though.

The parents will hopefully be mortified and you are sending your DD a strong message that you are standing up to bullying by sending them home NOW. Hugs to you and DD.

Suppose your middle schooler DD invites two friends over for a sleepover. Suppose she wakes you up in the middle of the night, in a panic, and when you turn on the lights, you see her face is covered with blotches of gooey glittery make up all over her forehead, her cheeks, her eyes, her chin, her hair, really gloppy (as in mounds all over her face - we are not talking make-over here - at all). She is in shock and starts crying. She tells you she thought she heard her "friends" giggle in the middle of the night and one say how hideous she looked, but she was not sure as she was half asleep, and then apparently she fell asleep fully after that, only to wake up in the middle of the night to feel her face and hair were really sticky, and comes to you, crying, and in disbelief, looking at herself in the mirror, asking"why would they do this". She says she now remembers one of them was pressing her and pressing her just before she fell asleep to ask whether she was a "heavy sleeper." Just suppose this happens to your DD.

Any words? I am speechless, and livid. Just so I don't explode, I need your words (kind words, wise ones).
