NP here re Soupergirl: we like it a lot. There are some of her flavors we are less fond of, but overall it's a win. If you can't get to the actual store, you can order online for the following week. Her soups are also being sold in some Whole Foods and Sweet Green locations.

Good concept, good service, but not good soup. I've repeatedly found soupergirl's soups to be bland, totally underseasoned, and unsalted. I am not a salty-food person and am never someone that pours salt over my food, but soupergirl's soups were badly in need of some salt or other seasoning. I've never ordered one of their soups, and finished a container before tossing it.

Soup is really easy to make. But if you're looking to buy, try just asking what the soup of the day is, at some local places, and order take-out. Look on yelp, call and ask if they make their soups fresh and in house. Whole Foods has some great soup. Fresh Market does as well.

They add less salt on purpose. I LOVE it since I don't like salty food. You can always add more salt but can't remove salt from your food. Just add more salt if you wish. IMO, it lets the ingredients shine and shows how tasty the soup can be without tons of salt masking its flavor. Check their label. Souper healthy! And I am not from Souper Girl, just a big fan of theirs.

I've never been, but DH and I keep wanting to try it- they close at 3 PM!

+1 I crave their chicken soup and matzo ball soup. I honestly don't want to know why it's so good.

I don't know how well it freezes, but if you get soup from Thai restaurants it usually comes in a huge container.

Wicked Waffle and Mosaic Cafe has a great tomato basil pesto soup. The Sunday farmers market at Bethesda Elementary has a fantastic soup vendor - Heirloom Kitchens.

We just bought a bunch of different boxed soups (soup aisle) at Target and sampled them all. Lentil, black bean/roasted red pepper, kinds like that. I would not mind at all if someone dropped those off at my house with some frozen croissants/breads for soup night.

I am looking for good homemade soups to deliver to a friend and stock in my freezer. Does anybody have any suggestions on where to buy quarts of soup (not Whole Foods)?
