Ninjago Legos are super expensive. Some of the big sets are 100. I try and save the big expensive sets for birthdays and Christmas. Maybe a $60 set for valentines day or Easter. But I don't like to go and spend 60-100 on Legos just for the heck of it.

I, for one, am hoping my child will never discover Legos. We'll have to find more versatile toys to play with.

Huh? Legos are basically well made little blocks. You can build the model...or use them for anything. If your kid can't be creative with legos, I doubt a more "versatile" toy would fix the issue.

In the future, check out black friday deals too (and probably sales at other times of year). I got a bunch this Christmas for 40% off. Unfortunately, my 5 year old is now obsessed

Also (semi-bitchy PP of 13:39 here, trying to atone), my brother has older kids and this was his advice: pick a line and stick with it. So his kids are into Lego City. That's all they get. They do not get Lego Star Wars, or Lego Hobbit. Just Lego city. Then they have a whole universe they can build, instead of a couple of these and a couple of those.

They have been known to branch sometimes into Lego Creator or Lego spongebob, or Lego Friends, which are thematically closer than say Lego Star Wars. But they do have an entire Lego town in their basement that takes up an area of at least 10 ft X 4 ft.

Lego Star Wars seem the most expensive to me, fwiw.

no you just have to change how your child plays with them. Sure just building a set and putting it on display is not creative, but that is not the point of legos. My 4.5 yr old builds things, takes them apart and builds something else. I love the creativity that leogs bring.

Huh, isn't that the glory of Legos?? The imagination is the only limit to what you can build! You don't have to keep "completed sets" and buy new Legos each time. Just take a picture and use the same Legos to build something new.

My boys, 8 and 6, are the same. That's all they asked for for Christmas and our basement playroom is full of Lego. However, my kids keep the sets up for awhile and then dismantle them and make something new. They are really creative with what they do. I don't even want to know how many Lego pieces total we have and how much we have spent. But there are worse things they could be playing with.

This really depends on the set. You have to shop around. Sometimes Lego.com is cheaper, sometimes Amazon is, sometimes Target.

yes, the sets that make cool things are expensive but if you just want regular legos to build your own creations they are less expensive. You can also find bulk legos beign sold on ebay.

They are a wonderful toy but extremely expensive. Both Target and Toys R Us price match. We were just there on Sun. and Toys R Us price matched the same two Lego sets to Amazon's price that I pulled up on my phone and showed them while we were there. Saved me $15 on two sets ($30 for two v. $45 for two).

Amazon is usually the cheapest.

My son has just discovered the wonder of Legos! He got a couple sets from his uncles fpr Xmas and has been begging me for more. I went to target and got him a small set for $15. Bit most of the bigger ones were well over 25/30$. Is there a good place to get a better price? We definitely cannot afford that. Thanks.
