VA and MD are not DC.

So get mumbo sauce and Rock Creek soda.

Go to Union Market and see what locally made non-perishables you can buy. If nothing else, Salt and Sundry is a local shop that carries mostly USA-made goods. So not completely local, but close!

Not quite DC but Williamsburg Peanut Shop nuts are good. Also chocolates from Range.

Isn't there a store near Dupont Circle that has specializes in local foods?

Although they aren't made in DC, I've found a bag of those Salty Oat cookies from Teaism makes a good edible gift.

Reposting from travel forum: Any suggestions for a good (edible) host gift to bring to MIL's house in FL? Ideally something that will fit easily in a suitcase and is unique to DC. TIA!
