Good advice from PP re early delivery. Try to get the first slot in the morning because if you take one of later evening slots or the last slot, you could be waiting way past your delivery time. Have had them deliver near midnight because they were running behind. Also, have noticed the morning delivery people tend to be more professional.

Peapod hint: If possible, try to get a delivery slot that is early in the day. We had MUCH better luck with early deliveries. With the late ones, it seemed like the produce was sort of wilted or half-frozen (like it had been stored in the truck at too low a temp or next to frozen stuff). They were always nice about refunds or replacements, but we found that when they came early in the day, the quality was less of an issue. The delivery people are super friendly.

Safeway is terrible about letting you order things that are actually out of stock, and their substitution system is confusing to use. As far as cost and selection go, they're great, but the third time I got an order missing half my meat or my two gallons of milk I went back to Peapod.

I have been a happy Peapod customer for years- they have excellent customer service and product quality.

I prefer Safeway in theory, but they charged me a fee for a certain delivery slot, then missed the slot, and when I emailed customer service about it they never answered, so now when I do delivery (not very often) I do peapod.

Can't speak to Safeway, but I've been a satisfied Peapod customer for more than ten years.

Big fan of Peapod. I don't have experience with Safeway, but I tend to feel that the selection at Giant stores is better, so I've assumed Peapod is better than Safeway's delivery.

As a new customer, you'll probably get free delivery.

Peapod. They have more things in stock, think the delivery price is lower and their produce is better than Safeway.

Hi all,

I'm sure this has been discussed before, but if you needed to temporarily in the medium term have your groceries delivered, would you do Peapod or Safeway? I'm in nearby PG county with a broken leg. TIA.
