My name is Catalina and I work with Dr. H. Ryan Kazemi an oral surgeon in Bethesda. I would highly recommend that you see a general dentist first, after he sees you he will recommend the specialist that you need. Good luck!

Between two teeth on my left, I have tiny gap where food tends to get stuck so I've had a habit of chewing food a bit more on the right side than the left. Approx a month ago I started chewing flax seeds on a daily basis and last week a pain started occurring on the right side jaw joint. The pain built up over a course of one week. Now it feels like a swelling around the right jaw joint and I'm not able to lock right upper/lower teeth without making an extra effort, extra pain and occasional popping noise.

Do I need to see a doctor or seek a dentist for this? Currently taking ibuprofen, hoping its swelling/inflammation only and nothing else. Anyone else experience anything similar?
