You can make a quick sauce using paste (mix in some water, herbs, salt). It taste just like Boyardee, but my kids love it because the sauce is super smooth.
I just mix it in with an open jar of sauce..but the tubes sound useful. Are they in the same are in the store? I just discovered frozen garlic cubes..also great.
Does anyone know if the tubes of tomato paste are BPA free? I will buy the cans if I can't find the jar at a fancier store, but I don't like using too many cans.
Yeah, I have the paste in a tube - love it. I used the canned paste because my recipe needed 1/4 cup and I thought it would be more cost effective from a can. Especially so now that I am freezing the remainder!
Also a great reason to pick up a tube of tomato paste the next time you're at the store. I've switched to the tubes for exactly this reason. It stays fresh in the fridge for quite a while.
I scoop out tablespoons of tomato paste onto a wax paper sheet. After freezing, I store them in a Ziplock bag in the freezer. It is easy to take out the right amount for future use.
