Walking, yes, talking no, give it a few more months. I would have a full evaluation and try to get some services in place.

My 13 month old just started walking and has no words.

My older DC walked at 8 months and had maybe 5 words by 13 months.

I am absolutely not worried at all about no-words DD and won't worry for a couple months, at least. She is engaged, babbles with variations in tone, has a few sign language signs, and is generally a much happier child than DS was. To each their own.

Completely, totally normal. Things change very quickly over the next 4-6 months. Don't let anyone scare you right now.

Our ds didn't walk until 14 months and had only one distinguishable (at least to us) word at 12 months. Our pediatrician wasn't the slightest bit concerned at his 1 year check up. At 15.5 months he's now walking all over the place and has maybe 7 words plus lots of sounds (choo choo, mooo, etc.).

Stay off the interwebs regarding this stuff. Your baby is normal! Lots of my friends' kids didn't walk until 16 months and have no problems now as preschoolers. The nice thing about them walking later is that they know how to catch or brace themselves when they fall.

Sounds normal to me. And he may have a couple of words that you're not recognizing yet. Does he say mamama or dadada? If he's refusing something does he maybe shake his head and do a "nanana" sound?

My dd walked at 15 months.....and I can't recall when she talked but is a talk ahold cat 5 yrs old!

Ours was like this. At 15 months it was like she decided that there might be some value in walking, but before that, she was a fast crawler and a good cruiser, and I just think she didn't feel the need to walk. Ditto for words--she didn't have any at 12 months. Now at 15 months, she has several words--dog, ball, belly, bye-bye, uh-oh, night-night, diaper, button, more, etc. It can be like a switch is flipped, and they go from none to many almost overnight.

My 13month old son took 3 steps a couple weeks ago and hasn't done it again. He can babble something that sounds like "mum mum" or "mama" but that's all. We're not worried about it.

No, it is not "an issue" not to walk by 14 months. Maybe getting to be on the other side of the bell curve, but perfectly normal.

Holy cow, no, do not get your child evaluated. It is PERFECTLY NORMAL for a 13 month old to not be walking or talking. As long as they are progressing towards walking and talking (eg cruising, babbling, becoming more interactive) it is fine.

My DC did not walk until 14.5 months and didn't have a real word until a bit after that. He is totally fine.

I think you still have time. I know many toddlers without words at 12 months and many that walk around 14. But I'd still get your DS evaluated by a devt ped or your county's services because early intervention is so helpful. FWIW I don't know any boys that had 1-3 words at 12 months and that milestone has always annoyed me. My highly verbal DS had words at 13/14 months.

My 13 month old DS is not yet walking or talking. Should I be concerned? He's been cruising on furniture/sit to stand walker for over two months, but he doesn't seem to be progressing. Regarding his speech, he makes normal baby sounds and can be quite "talkative" at times but no actual words. At his 12 month checkup the doctor said he should be speaking at least 1-3 words. Should I be concerned? Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.
