Whoever the guy is, he's incredibly rude and nasty to customers. I refuse to go there but my SIL loves their cake. She always gets the sponge cake layered with cream filling. Personally, I find it disgusting but she likes it. Other pastries she has bought are good. Unfortunately, it's the only nearby place that sells the traditional Easter and New Years breads.

Their fruit cake is too sweet for me, because of the layer of jam.

Not to hijack...but have you tried Tout De Sweet in Bethesda? It is on Woodmont Avenue (French) and the "real deal." (And I do not work there, just eat too many of their things!)

If you're referring to Stella's Bakery in Rockville, then the extremely rude person is the owner's father. My parents were one of the first customers when this bakery opened. It's a family business with the owner's brother as the head baker. The mini pastries and grand marnier mouse cake are delicious!

Baklava is good, but the owner is such a jerk I refuse to spend my money there. He's over the top rude.

I like their cakes, particularly the mousse cakes. My favorite is the one with fruit on top. Their cheesecake is also good.
If you try the Napolean, let us know. It looks tempting. The little pastries are also good.

Don't care about the staff. I'm interested in the baked goods

I'll be in the area next week and making a stop. Any suggestions?
