I got this call, too. He said he was getting Windows error messages from my computer and told me "go to your computer and turn it on." I explained that we don't use Windows on our Mac. I asked him what exactly his company does, because he hadn't explained anything but the name, and he yelled at me repeatedly "I TOLD you." Then ordered me again to go to my computer. I asked him three times to remove our number from his call list and he kept haranguing me, so finally I hung up.

Very obnoxious. Don't these companies hire an American to vet their scripts and coach the callers on how to not yell at or berate the people they call?!!

I received their call yesterday (6/09/2014). I knew it was a scam so asked questions, thereby interrupting their scam-pitch. It put them off their game. i continued until he said he wanted permission to remotely access my computer. Big NO! Then he admitted it would cost something. I didn't care what the cost was; I was tired of playing with them so hung up. I worry about the less aware folks who will surely fall victim to this. They MUST be stopped!

Really a shame that scams like this exist. Posters here are the success stories. But what happens to the vulnerable who do get taken?

Call them every name in the book and they'll stop calling. That's what I did.

This same company called my grandparents' house over the summer. The guy must have called before. He assumed I was my grandfather and I played along. He told me he worked for "The Internet." He wanted my information in exchange for speeding up my computer.

Once he started telling me to go into the C drive I stopped playing along. He actually had the nerve to get mad at me. He said that I was wasting his time by pretending to be an elderly person. He got mad and hung up.

I received a similar call today from a man who said he was with PC Speedy and his name was James Wilson. He may have said James Milton, his accent was so heavy he was very difficult to understand. His accent sounded like it could have been from India. He also said his company phone # was 855-264-9273. He claimed he was wanting to help me with recent problem I have been having with Windows updates. He said he was going to give me the info to allow me to correct the issues. He ask if I was in front of my computer so he could walk me through the steps. (I guess he was going to have me hack my own computer for him??) When I starting asking how he got my name and phone # he kept talking in circles. To me this was an obvious scam, but I did try to get as much information out of him as possible. I reported this company to the FTC as a scam.

These guy's called me today and wanted to get access to my computer...NOT... when I told them I would not give access to my computer and mentioned I was reading bad postings about them the person Dean Jones & Kevin Wilson... Didn't realize Pakistani or Indian people were now naming their children after Disney actors and 60's musicians...They were very pushy and demeaning even after I told them that is what I was reading from the posts on a other web site... Told them several times I was not interested and hung up.. They kept calling me back for three times, I would not answer so hope they got the message... Although the number was from Louisiana they were not sitting there that was for sure... When I looked to see where the company is located there is no mention of LA. or any other state in the Union in their Contact US section of the web site... What bother me though is they had my phone number and address... That is concerning...

Received the same kind of call from PC Speedy; the guy said his name was James Milton and wanted to help me fix error messages. I told him I was not having any trouble; he insisted on me letting him help me; when I refused he hung up. My caller ID showed his number as 985-564-0064 but when I asked him for a call back number he gave me 1-855-364-9273. He also had a Indian/Pakistani accent.

I've gotten a number of similar calls and I consider it a personal challenge to keep them on the phone as long as possible. I figure the longer they're on the phone with me, the less time they have to call people who might fall prey to their scam. I got cussed out pretty good by the last guy when he figured out what I was up to.

Post 01/11/2014 15:42     Subject: Has anyone gotten a call from PC Speedy Tech support?

So I got a call today from PC Speedy Tech support.
The person on the phone gave me a western name but had a heavy Indian/Pakistani accent.
I asked him where his call center was located and he said in Las Vegas. Yeah right.

He was telling me that he can help me speed up my computer.
Of course I know it's a scam. He'll probably ask to remotely access my machine.
Anyway, I played along and kept him on the phone for a while because I wanted to see how far off his script he'd go with my questions.
Then I told him I had to go fix dinner and had to get off the phone and thanks for calling. Entertaining.

Anyway, has anyone had any good or bad experience with this?
