So the dog can eat the rinds?

So PP can blame the dog for farting.

I always cut the cheese at the table next to the dog.

We have several bamboo boards, in a variety of sizes and shapes, depending on the size of the cheese selection and the number of guests. I like the long skinny one and the pretty parquet one.

The slate idea also sounds nice. Haven't picked up one of those yet.

I use a slate board. Use 3-5 cheeses depending on crowd. I serve the following alongside: fig jam, nuts, fresh grapes, dates or figs or dried fruit. Oh. And crackers.
Sometimes will supplement with dry sausage of sone type.

Also if you want to get fancy use a piece of slate. Some kitchen places sell these as cheese boards. I also have cheese markers to label the cheeses.

Have a mix of hard and soft cheeses. You can find some info on line about what kinds of cheeses make up a good cheese board. I usually add fig jam, Marcona almonds and dried mango. Sometimes will have honey with some soft cheeses. I use thin crackers or thin slices of baguette.

In addition to some sort or condiment, I often will add grapes or strawberries. For grapes, I'll leave them on the stems, but cut the stems into small bunches of 4-8 grapes so that people can take a small bunch. They also don't roll around on plates like loose ones do. For strawberries, I will take off the stems/leaves and if they are small to medium leave them whole, if they are large, I'll cut them in half and put the white side down so that it still looks good.

I think you need more than crackers. Spice it up. Add a jam or mustard depending on the cheeses. How about some fruit and nuts?

Historically, I've placed the chhese on a plate with some crackers. sometimes I use a wood cutting board. It just seems like I should be doing it differently...
