@ 9:15 in Gaithersburg, my driveway is still covered with ice. Wifey just left to take the kiddies to school in DC...2 hour delay was justified.

I'm a mile from the DC line. The side roads were glazed over and sidewalks were slippery. I can't argue with a 2 hour delay. It's not like a few days ago when it was perfectly fine out and FCPS closed!

My driveway was completely iced over at 6am in Burtonsville. My traction control system engaged in my car several times when I tried to stop.

When I got to work in DC, the sidewalks and steps to my building were iced over.

It was absolutely the right call

My driveway and street were icy and slick at 6:30. By 8 AM they were safe to drive on. The 2-hour delay was great for my part of the county.

You posted at 8:30. My DCs bus comes at 6:45. It was colder at 6:45.

We are in Arlington, where they didn't do this. I just posted about my anger at walking my kids to the bus stop and discovering first-hand how icy the street is. I'm actually a bit nervous about them going to school, and I don't scare easily in these situations. It really IS bad out there. Of all days so far, this is the one that should have been delayed.

This is so screwed up words don't even begin to describe it.

People in this county should get out more. Geez.

I left Rockville at 5 with freezing rain and a touch of sleet. The sidewalks and steps were totally glazed over (though the roads seemed ok thankfully). It am sure it got worse as you headed NW. Though nothing had been announced at that point I was certain a delay was required.

The 2 hour delay let the HS students leave just now which thankfully you are saying will be qute safe for them..

1. There are parts of the county where it is colder than Rockville.
2. The roads in those parts of the county are icy.

In Rockville it is 33 degrees and drizzling. So the roads can't be icy, unless they froze overnight and are only just now getting the benefit of warmer daytime temps.
