I'm sure that there is a very good reason why school will be starting late....think of all those kids who have to walk or wait for long periods at the bus stop. Or the kids who are in trailers ALL DAY LONG who have to walk to the main building to go to the bathroom.
I cannot stand all of these people who say people are using school for babysitting. That's not it. People arrange childcare assuming that school will be in session absent some emergency. 2o degree weather is not an emergency. Some of us have to be at work and have commitments. It's not using school as babysitting to assume it will start on time absent extreme circumstances.
By the way, I have an au pair, so it doesn't matter to me. I just get frustrated that some don't get why this is a hardship for others.

I understand it's probably a bus issue--so open the cafeteria for kids whose parents can drive them and just show a G-rated movie for a couple hours.
So, school is for babysitting?
