Go DC!!

DC doesn't have buses, dipshit. It's also just about the worst school system in Murka.

MCPS should have closed because everything the DC schools do is bad, including staying open when it's cold?

The relationship between staying open and buses is not clear to me either. Did the MCPS school buses not run this morning because of the cold? Were the school buses I saw a mirage?

What does having or not having buses have to do with whether or not they had frozen pipes?

My daughter's 4th grade class of 25 had 10 kids missing. And the majority of these kids take the bus and are practically picked up by their front doors b/c we're in the outer burbs. So there was no excuse.

Obviously, parents were protesting!

I live way out too, and my kids had 4 out of 24 and 1 out of 26 missing (2 different elementary schools). So either your kid's class was the norm and mine were the exception and parents were protesting, or my kids' classes were the norm and yours was the exception and parents weren't protesting, or neither of us has any good idea what was really going on.

While I agree that Fairfax is a better school system, MCPS made the right call. Schools close early a lot that not even make the news. A few here and there are no big deal.

Same here. Good Call. There was no issue except at a few schools. My kids went today and learned.

4 schools out of 202. I, for one, am glad my kid was in school today.

Miracle of miracles DC had all of its facilities staff in yesterday to check on equipment. They closed two schools (Hardy and Anacostia) due to malfunctions and had the news out before school even started. It's like I'm living in a (pleasurable) alternate universe.

You guys should take notes from Fairfax County, the best school system in the region.
