It may depend on the specific needs of the child. My DS has ADHD and he is often given extra time on regular tests. He was not given extra time on the CogAT as we were told that it was a time specific test. His only accomodation was to take it in a room with other kids who needed to be pulled out of the general classroom to help with focus, none of those kids were given extra time. I do not know if there was some additional cohort of kids who did get extra time for some reason, but I can tell you that the five or six in my son's room, all of whom have ADHD, did not get extra.

OP here - that kid also has ADHD and almost always gets extra time on tests, so it's no surprise to the family that he was allowed to work at his own pace at CogAT.

CogAT is definitely a timed test. I've administered it hundreds of times. For many NT students they just have enough time to finish each section.

I am curious if it varies by school or even by teacher. One family we're close to was pretty certain his ADHD son was given 'as much time as he needed' when taking CogAT last year, but I'm not sure if mine did.
