as a single dad on match, I would agree with this - but the caveat is that the woman has to have some good photos and bring her game otherwise I wouldn't bother sending an email to her. I actually do read the profile and if there's nothing there despite good photos, I more than likely wouldn't respond. but maybe i'm just picky that way.

Have a friend take some amazing photos of you. I met my husband online. I know lots of couples who met online and every single guy said he skims the write ups and its the pic that gets his attention. These are not shallow men but they ARE men.

This is how I felt too. I never responded to winks. Seemed juvenile to me. I switched to eharmony and met my husband there. If you have checked it out, eharmony is the most tedious of all

I am a woman. I wink when I am lazy or when the guy's profile is really generic and I cannot think of anything to say. I do not respond to winks.

I am on Match too and if the wink isn't followed up by an email, I usually don't bother responding. How difficult is it to write a short email if you are interested?

That was my first interaction with my now-husband. Married almost 7 years and have two kids now .

Though I think a good pic is important. I did a literal double take when I opened dh's email and saw what he looked like.

I just joined match in an attempt to start dating again. The online thing is new/bizzare to me but I have been winking at people - maybe 30?- with zero response. My picture isn't great so I don't know whether it is me or that winking isn't effective or both. I am not really comfortable just randomly emailing people…ugh.
