Don't feel that a talk with the child's teacher is necessary. If the child needs this program, he or she will be accepted.

I have not had any talk with my kid's teacher yet. We moved recently to Fairfax co. My kid had taken NNAT2 in GMU and scored 99 percentile. I also sent the GMU transcript to teacher/AAP resource teacher.
Never had any talk whether my kid is in the pool. But I strongly believe my kid should be in the pool.
Do I need to initiate this next week or wait until I get a letter from FCPS?
What grade is your child in? If your child is in 3rd grade or above, the rule might be different for those new to FCPS. I know of others who have gotten their kids into AAP outside of the regular application time frame because they had transferred in from elsewhere.

Reminders Regarding Deadlines for AAP Level IV Screening Process
FCPS families who would like their student in grades 2-7 screened for Level IV services to begin in 2014-15 must submit the Level IV referral form to their local school by the February 3rd. Information about the 2nd grade pool benchmark score will be posted on this site by mid-January.
