My DH has MIL issues. But my mom is a piece of work and likely has BPD or NPD. He puts up with her pretty well (as do I) but I know she gets on his nerves, especially when she says not so nice things to me

I wonder if it is in part bc women recognize issues in their parents more than men do. My husband has issues with my mother, but I see them and share some of them with him, and so I run more interference to minimize her impact on him. Whereas it is only recently that, despite well over a decade of me asking him, that DH has begun shielding me and putting me first. I think a lot of MIL issues are worsened by the DH either staying out of it or by siding with the MIL, however tacitly. My MIL has not changed in the last year but my husband has.

My DH has plenty of issues with both my parents He's just not on DCUM. And feels less need to dissect it with anyone besides me.

MILs are jealous of DILs. Easy. I thought everyone knew this.

Really? Yet, men do most of the killing in domestic issues...

Yes, they do not say much but do more physical harm overall. Better to bitch then to physically hurt I say!

My husband has major issues with my mother. He's not going to come on this forum and ask for advice or spin yarns about them.

Men just don't verbalize like we do

Women/women relationships also tend to be more complicated.

That is because some women have major issues about sharing their son with another woman!

DH has MIL issues.
My mother is a right piece of work - something along the lines of what PP said
(And my MIL is a treasure.)

That's only because there are fewer married men on DCUM. In the hospital waiting room during my first miscarriage (at 10 weeks) my mother told DH she was glad I lost the baby because I was "getting fat." Trust me. He has issues with her.
