Puhleeze! Why is this old canard always brought up when DWs stop being fun to be around. Let me let you all in on a little secret my mother learned that made her happy and kept the family happy: the house does not need to perfect. As my Uncle Olaf used to say I'd you want to see me come visit anytime, if you want to see my house make an appointment.

Considering I work 12 hour days and she is free from 7:30 - 4:00 pm, she has plenty of time for her chores. She just has poor time management skills.

I am more than happy to entertain myself: to go out with my friends, see a movie I want to see, etc. She then cannot give me a guilt trip or be angry for going if she does not want to, nor bitch at me that I don't want to do "family things when she shoots down my suggestions!

Here we are in a city with a multitude of things to do, from concerts to museums to good films, and whenever I offer to go somewhere or do something, my DW is not interested, or if we go she will complain about how she could be doing something else. That something else is the same old shit she does the rest of the week, go shopping and to the gym. She will also come up with excuses about what needs to be done around the house, and asks how I can even have "time" to watch movies or TV or go out? Well dear, first off, I am up every morning, even on weekends at 6 AM. I get my morning paper read, my coffee and to the gym during the week. On weekends, I get my quiet time before you and DD get out of bed at 9 AM. By that time, I have completed all my chores and should be free to do what I want without any guilt trips. I am like the US Army. I do more before 8 AM than most people do all day!

Now, what can we do that is fun?
