I moved to DC from Virginia and I can tell you - Southern WASPs just will not, not, not, NOT ever date a black woman. Their parents would die.

You might have better luck dating a brit. Or maybe trying to find preppy black guys (like a Russel Simmons type?).

Where do women come up with these off-the-wall prerequisites from?

they will not marry aa, indians or jews if they are truly the prep school type -- they will sleep with you, but you will not meet their families

not trying to start something, just btdt

I'd first try a Presbyterian or Episcopal church and attend a singles only group event.

I'd suggest a smaller southern Virginia town like outside of Richmond or Roanoke or Lynchburg, but then again, some of these old money/preppy guys you are seeking come with shockingly racist attitudes.

I think preppy is a better description. I have seen guys of all races dress the way you described.

She is not asking how to date Bubba, Billy Bob, Guido or Joe.

She wants to date Gatsby. WASP is a perfectly appropriate term I this situation. Nothing racist about it.

Some will if you're attractive but be prepared for the potential that their families will not readily accept you. I'm WASPY and dated well-educated men of all races and it was initially a shock to my family.

PP here. Do WASPs ever date Indian women as well?

I'm an AA female, late twenties, well educated, in a white collar profession making 75k+ and born and brought up in DC. My parents were both teachers and I became exposed to WASP culture only after college (I went to an HBC). Now I am really enamored by that culture and lifestyle, The Great Gatsby kind of people. The kind of guys who live in Georgetown or Chevy Chase and wear pink bow ties and Brooks Brothers and belong to country clubs and wear tennis whites to the court.

Do these kinds of guys date black women? Where do I meet these guys? What do they look for in a wife? It's not MONEY I'm after, just that culture and lifestyle.

Please don't reply if you just want to criticize me. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to my preferences. Don't respond to this thread if you just want to boast about how you didn't marry for superficial reasons - good for you. You are not me. Don't reply to this thread if that's all you've got to say.

If you have answers to my questions ("Do these kinds of guys date black women? Where do I meet these guys? What do they look for in a wife?") or if you are a man who fits this criteria and want to share some insights, I'd love to hear from you!
