Unfortunately, she is visiting her mom for Christmas dinner and will be there for two days, but I think I will hit the mall tomorrow and see if there is anything on sale she would like. Send her a giftcard to her favorite store with a sweet note. & pull your husband aside and ask him WTF he was thinking?! If he wasn't going to shop for her he should have just said so!

Agree with gift card up to the amount you would have spent if you had bought DSD the clothes minus the cost of the Costco shirt. It will be awkward though because it is obviously an after thought.

So we have two elementary-aged kids and my DSD (early 20s), who lives in another state. I normally buy all the gifts for everyone, but this year, DH asked what I was getting DSD and I replied that I was going to buy her some clothes, and he said he's do it. Fine. I didn't think about it again.

Today we opened gifts and I realized that the only thing he got her was a workout shirt from Costco. She wasn't a jerk about it, but I felt like she was pretty disappointed. On the one hand, money is tight and my DH is being an ass and has somehow decided to be mad at ME that she didn't get more gifts. On the other hand, she is a great sister to my kids and I don't want her to have a lame Christmas.

Should I buy something else, and if so, what?
