I work in Tyson's and live in Falls Church! My commute is 3 miles and 15 min to half hour depending on traffic or the time of day.

It has been awhile since I rented in Arlington but I think 2K for a two-bedroom should be doable if you are flexible with location and do not need to be right near the metro. I haven't commuted during rush hour but I would guess 30 minutes to Tysons. I would recommend Arlington because it has good schools, is very kid/family friendly, and would seem to be a good fit for you (lots of 30-somethings in the area - both single and married).

Why not?

Because i have to drop off at daycare and don't know if the daycare will be metro accessible plus if there is an emergency mid-day, want to be able to go without relying on metro

Isn't that area dangerous?

Probably 30 minutes each way to Ballston from Tysons, 35 to Clarendon.

Hello,

I am contemplating a new job that would be in Tysons' Corner and i am wondering where the best place to move would be. I am female, 30, single and have a child who will be starting school soon. I currently live in the suburbs and hate it, I am more of a city girl and want to move to an urban area, that is friendly and has good schools but not a crazy commute to Tysons (hate commuting). I will be renting, what areas would you recommend and why? Thank you so much and happy holidays!
