but you are so right.
Summer camp is a need and that I always put on a credit card and accumulate about $3000 debt each year. I hope to pay it off before my kid starts college

How old is your kid?

Anyway this is a vent. I hate the home depot. I am trying to get debt free without my DH help. I am sure we are on the road to divorce and I just want to establish my credit. My score is 740 but no none will give me a loan or cc with lower rate because I only work part time and make 3000 a month. It sucks to feel trapped. I also owe another card 6K my interest is low. merry christmas

Do you have a steady job and contribute to the retirement plan (does your job do a match on your contribution?). If so, that is great and you just need to focus really hard on increasing your payments on the credit cards. Could you offer to do some babysitting over the holidays for busy parents who want to do last minute shopping or go to parties etc? You could put that money straight onto the cards. Also, dog walking is a good idea for extra cash!

It's tough, but as you pointed out, the interest is what is killing you. You say you work P/T. Is there a way that you can increase your hours, or take a second job expressly to earn more money to pay towards your debt? even $100 a week can make a huge difference in how fast that debt goes away. Right now, there are some seasonal jobs that will go on for the next few weeks. It might be helpful to take a job for just a couple of weeks and help get some of the monkey off your back.

Sounds like you're on the road to recovery, OP.
Congratulations.

You don't have a combined checking/savings account? I'm assuming these were purchases made for the investment of your house, right? Why can't you use your husband's $$$ to help pay it down? Or is money management a reason for your marital problems and that's why you're being left to fend the bill on your own?

Throwing rocks in a glass here, because I've certainly gotten myself into a mess with cc debt before, but the pp's advice on money management is spot on. It's been an ugly truth for me, but I'm digging myself out and will never ever ever be there again. Word.

Not OP. But gee, thanks, very helpful. Anyway, my advice would be to cut out all extra spending and put any and all extra money towards that card. Then, no more credit cards! Pay cash. No eating out, no coffees. Sorry, no fun. But I would say pay off the credit card and then start a savings account before any fun. Good luck.

Thanks! I am trying. I have doubled my payment for the last few months. I was really just venting. As far as the ass that is sick of whatever…. don't read the post. Your remarks help no one. Ask yourself
"is it helpful or hurtful" If not helpful, keep it to your self!

OP, just keep paying it. If you can, up it a bit - if you pay even an extra $10-20 a month, it will help. If I were you, I would not use CCs for anything. Maybe check out Dave Ramsey or Suze Orman for the basics of getting out of debt.
