It also helps that Ryan McElveen went there and actively lobbies for the school. For years, the Hunter Mill and Providence School Board members only looked out after other pyramids - Stu Gibson only cared about South Lakes and Patty Reed and her predecessor were both from Oakton. Reed has stepped up her game since McElveen was elected on issues affecting the Marshall pyramid.

Wolftrap and Flint Hill both has local Level IV AAP programs, and I've heard good things about both schools. If you feel strongly about AAP, you may want to look in a zone that has a LOCAL (versus Center) AAP program. Then you will likely have a choice about staying in the home school versus sending to a center.
It's also worth noting that having Local Level IV programs within many schools -- at least in the North part of the county is the preference by many on the school board, so in the future there may be less bussing to center schools and a bigger attempt to keep kids local.

OP- here's my 2 cents for what its worth:
No one knows what will happen to Westbriar yet, but my suspicion is that it will end up similar to Louise Archer. LA is a great school with a lot going for it-- but because of its relatively small natural boundary, and lots of kids from further away, I think it does change the "community" feel of the school.

I may be wrong, but I think Flint Hill ES and Marshall Road ES would feed into Madison. (Not an AAP center). Those two ES may split and go to Madison or Oakton depending where boundary lines fall.

Small part of 22180 also goes to Wolftrap, which isn't a center but has Local Level IV and is a great school. That part of 22180 also goes to Madison, since it's in the Town limits.

OP, I suggested the HS as that is where the resale (eventually folks move) money is - in the HS, not the ES. Anywhere in 22181 or 22180 in Oakton pyramid or Madison pyramid is good. All the ES are good - buy in an AAP ES school boundary within these pyramids.

This is true. Already there are signs of strain with problems getting all the kids to the bathrooms during the day, what with trailers and increase in student population. Part of the Westbriar AAP deal was the school getting an addition, but those plans appear to be on hold for now at least. Many current families fear the fact that Westbriar has become the defacto Tysons school means more overcrowding in the future since the county has been notoriously bad in estimating the number of new kids who will come from apartment complexes.

Anywhere in Vienna is good to live. All the schools are really good. Focus on the HS though. Oakton or Madison pyramid is best!

Any feedback from westbriar aap parents? I have heard great things about westbriar prior to them becoming a center. We are seriously considering a house in that area of Vienna and would appreciate feedback. We are targeting Vienna for work / commuting reasons and would greatly appreciate AAP feedback from level IV and center school parents. Thank you.
