Those are amazing! My idea of icing cookies is slathering some white frosting across the cookie and hoping for the best.

These look awesome. My sister makes/decorates the most awesome sugar cookies I've ever seen in my life anywhere. She uses the Betty Crocker recipe and adds almond extract.

Wow, OP -- those look fantastic. My dad requested sugar cookies and I was incredibly relieved when my aunt said she already made them for him. Mine wouldn't have looked nearly as nice as yours! I'm with the cookie blob PP.

Those look great! My sugar cookies in 'shapes' taste great but tend to turn out like blobs nowadays I just do cookies, not in shapes, and decorate with green and red. I know my limits LOL.

I think they turned out ok. I've never worked with royal icing/glaze before so the cookies I decorated on Tues night look crappy compared to the ones I decorated last night. I also definitely need to have all of the diff icing colors ready to go. This waiting and mixing/decorating with one color at a time sucked. Does anyone have a sugar cookie recipe they love? I just used the Betty Crocker mix on these because I've yet to find one that I love that is worth going through the trouble of making it from scratch.

Costco has some great gel and foam mats.

Always have Veteran's Day off - bake cookies and freeze.
Always have the day after Thanksgiving off - decorate cookies.

Decided I would bake and decorate sugar cookies. Thought a glaze with corn syrup would be a good idea so it could set up and I could layer decorate. You know, all fancy like.

Holy crap, my back is killing me. Now I know why it's been at least 6 years since I've made these things.

In related news, does anyone have an anti fatigue mat they would recommend?
