Do what the PP recommends. Chances are it's just a fatty tumor. Is it to rock hard or moves easily. Usually fatty rumors aren't rock hard (but I'm not a vet either). Both my senior dogs have several fatty tumors and they are functioning fine. Hope that's what it is on your pup

Any vet can aspirate it in the office to see if it's a cyst, wart, or something more. If it's a mast cell cancer they can remove it under anesthesia. Provided it hasn't spread, surgery can cure it.

Older dogs get a lot of lumps and bumps that are benign. Better to have it checked. I pay $35 for an aspiration plus an office visit fee.

Not sure where you are but we got great routine care for our two dogs at Goshen Animal Clinic in Gaithersburg and when things went beyond (youngish lab got cancer) we went to VCA in Gaithersburg (not cheap but they were very caring in trying to save him)

My beloved little 11-year-old pooch has a quarter-sized lump near her hind left leg. She is a small breed rescue from the New York Shelter. For the last three years, I have taken her to Washington Animal Rescue League for her shots, so I don't have a regular vet. I have read that dogs can develop these tumors in response to being spayed/neutered. As any pet owner, the thought of losing her is more than I can imagine. I was wondering if anyone has experience with dealing with these type of tumors and can recommend a reasonably-priced vet.
