OP here. Thanks for the suggestions, and for the previous thread. We also pay $250 a week (though we've cut back on our hours there because of a part-time preschool program; we're still paying the same rate as when DD was going full-time) and she is great. I was trying to decide between $100 or $200, plus a really nice sweets gift basket we're putting together for her.

Candles are not enough. although I get that is all some families can do. A full week's bonus is very generous, given that she gets a paid week off. Your suggestion is not crazy cheap, though I would consider cash versus a gift card. It's hard to beat cash.

I don't think there is a "going rate". Everyone does what they can.

NP here, I read that other thread but still don't have a good idea what the "going rate" is. Some folks are doing a whole week's pay in cash, others are giving candles.

DH says we don't need to give any $$, but I disagree. We have one kid with her, if that matters.
