I love love love Shophouse! They will definitely split your veggies into two if you ask nicely, but it helps to do this when it's not super busy.

My favorites foods are spicy/sweet/vinegary/chewy/crunchy all at the same time, which you can achieve here with various combinations of the toppings.

I love the white rice, tofu, broccoli (or sometimes half broccoli and half eggplant, which they will do), a bit of the medium spicy curry and a bit of the tamarind vinaigrette, and all of the pickle/cilantro toppings as well as all of the crunchy toppings. I LOVE toppings.

I actually find the bowls hard to finish because they're so spicy and heavy.

I hated the fact that you could only choose one veggie. If you're going to use the "same" concept, don't charge for extra veggies!

I jus checked online after your post. While I certainly do not think I am eating "health food" at Shophouse, I also do not think it is really THAT bad for you (especially compared to other fast options.)

I like it. The portions were a little meager though.

Meh. Everything tasted like vinegar. I like choosing my ingredients but I don't think Asian food works the same way as Tex-Mex (Chipotle) or Mediterrean (Cava). The servings are on the small side but it is a good value for Bethesda.

i love shophouse....the taste AND concept! The meatballs are delicious! I also like the eggplant, charred corn, tamarind sauce, crispy garlic, peanuts & cilantro.

I have headed over that way to eat there several times (work in Bethesda) but I keep seeing Cava and going there instead. My husband tried the one in Georgetown and pronounced it good, and cheap.

thoughts?

I like it, and like Cava too. Both seem lighter and healthier than Chipotle. Love the tofu with eggplant and green chili.

The formula is what it is. You don't have to eat there.
