I can't seem to get a straight answer from Comcast, if I cancelled my cable but kept the Internet is there a package that allows me to watch comcast online, like via the Comcast on demand iPad app?

Get a TiVo box so you can record your over the air broadcasts. You pay a monthly fee for the service but it is worth it.

We have Fios and pay about $12/month to get a cable connection to local channels so that we have perfect reception (but no actual cable channels). Not sure if you would want that but it is a nice option. We also pay about $8/month for Hulu plus. That is how we watch most network shows.

You only need a converter if your tv is not digital ready.
You will probably need an antenna if you want to get the broadcast channels.

Yes, you need that converter. Radio Shack should be able to help you figure out exactly what you need.
We have a mac mini attached to our TV - it allows us to stream Netflix and watch tons of cable shows from their website (Food Network, etc.) It's a little bit of a pain since you don't have a remote, just a mouse, but it works great and costs us nothing (except for Netflix).

I was going to say that you needed Amazon Prime, Netflix, and a Roku if that didn't set you back too much, but since you have that I'd say you're all set. Well, I suppose you still need a friend who'll give you their HBO-GO password...

I'm the PP and I meant to add, we still bought a digital antenna so that we could get the stations better. It's ok, not perfect (some stations come in and out), but we end up not watching regular TV much at all anyway and go straight to the Roku.

It depends on your TV. Look up the specs. My old TV needed a digital converter (which I bought on craigslist) and my new TV (bought used) did not need the converter.

I posted on the Money forum, since subscribing to cable (both Comcast and Verizon over the years!) takes a good chuck of money to pay. With that said, I'm finally ready to pull the plug on my cable, but need to know what I need before I do so. I have Roku, Amazon Prime and Netflix so the withdraw shouldn't be too bad, (and I'm still keeping my fiber optic via Verizon for the PC) however I need to know if I can just watch
Wasn't/isn't there a box of some sort that the public needed when the system went from digital to HD? a convertor box or something similiar? If so where can I pick one up? Hmm, will I be able to view HD channels w/o cable? I'm thinking the box should allow me to do so?
