No, YOU need to find an appropriate parking space and get out and walk her. Carpool line is not the appropriate location to exit your vehicle and walk your kid in. Have some common sense.

If me walking my child to the door for an extra 30 secs inconveniences you THAT much then you need to plan your day better or work on your time management skills.

I would tell the local police district

It's not an option at our school. You pull into one of 6 spots in the drop-off circle, let your child off there (there are patrols and teachers to make sure you do) and you go on your merry way. Simple.

This happens at our school too. The absolute worst though, is when they pull up a mere 2 ft and idle right there until they see their precious little angel enter the school building! REALLY?

There are a line of cars behind you and you hold it up because Suzie might get kidnapped on the sidewalk between the patrols and the teacher at the front door????

We have both options. I prefer walking in and dropping off my child and picking up. I like to have a 30 second conversation to ask how the day went (just want to know if it was a good day or what we need to work on). I hate the pick up line as they bitterly complain about our car seats and refuse to strap in my child properly despite showing them repeatedly.

SR mom here. This is an issue with the upper school as well! My dd is going to college in 1 year. I think she can cross a street.

We have this same problem, too. And it's astounding how STUPID the parents are or probably, just inconsiderate as hell.

When the teachers are out there enforcing the rules -- go to the end of curb, drop off, drive away -- it works great. One day the teachers don't come out and all hell breaks loose. It's like the first day all over again. Parents stop in front of the door so their kid doesn't have to walk too far or worse, let their kids out before reaching the curb -- because they can't be on time -- so kids are weaving in and out of cars in the parking lot.

I would like to take this time to angrily shake my fist at you St. Mary's dropper and picker uppers, blocking the surrounding streets for EVERYONE. I live locally, and it's annoying as hell that you can't get in or leave the surrounding streets because you insist on sitting there parked on the road.

There really needs to be a better way than a line of 30 cars blocking Royal St. for several blocks.

I'm just so annoyed with these parents. The school doesnt help much. The process is set up to be long. The crossing guard doesn't let the kids get out before a certain point. Honestly, my 7th and 8th graders are more than capable of crossing a street.

We have that at our school too--but there is always the parent that thinks *THEIR SNOWFLAKE* has to be dropped off right in front of the door! It's usually the same parent that stays in that spot for a few extra minutes so snowy can "finish her breakfast" (seriously! That was a parent one year!) and then parent has to come around, open the car door for snowy, give her a BIG HUG and stand and wave as they watch her walk into the school.

Your child (barring any mental/physical defects) does not need to be ushered to exactly where the front door is in the line. I don't think they will get harmed if you let them out and they have to walk 20 feet on the sidewalk to the door. Doing this slows down the long line of cars. Same thing for the evening. Why can't the school just let the kids come get in their respective cars. Why does each individual car have to drive up, the kid summoned, and then they get in the car. It is so bad in the morning that I cannot even leave once my kids get out of the car and walk the 20 feet to the door.
