OP, don't worry about it. If it is that close to the power lines, the county will take care of it. No one likes a sh*t stirrer. If that neighbor is not in an HOA, they should be. I strongly suspect the rest of the neighbors feel the same way about her. Avoid her like the plague and drain she is.

If it's over the fence line, hanging over her property, she can cut it. By announcing that it's "a problem" ~ the neighbor is being an unnecessary pain.

OP, know when to say when, stop obsessing, and you will be fine. Contrary to what the "crazy bamboo lady" poster says, bamboo will NOT kill you in your sleep. But your neighbor might! It never pays to push a neighbor, especially if they have a nicer house than you, just saying. There are too many know it alls who know nothing (often lawyers). If you are that concerned about bamboo matters, your time and money would be best spent getting proper - and *above average* - legal counsel.

We have a really crappy neighbor with tall pines that wreak havoc on us. For seven years we've offered to pay 1/2 to cut down trees (on his property) and he refuses. Well today, his tree fell on my 92 year old dad's car. The damage over the years has been incredible. We've been generous and easy going for too long. Today we retained an attorney.

The neighbor should cut it if it's over their fence/ property line, and not make a big deal about it.

Not PP but you seem to be insinuating that the growth of shrubbery on your property is somehow out of your control. I'd love to hear how that could be possible. Even if you are disabled, you must have some way of dealing with maintenance issues that come up regarding your property or you wouldn't be able to live in a single family home.

If disabled its a different issue. We had an elderly neighbor who could not take care of it herself. Instead of complaining, we just asked could we fix her bushes and her drain so they were not causing issues in our yard. She happily agreed. Same when a tree was causing issues to our line. We were getting our trees trimmed so we just got permission to do hers on our property. But able bodied, you should regularly survey your property and take care of it.

Lines? How tall is it.

It needs to be cut, but its late now. The trees in our neighborhood are all bent over into shapes I've never seen before...

Agree. Bamboo is crazy when it grows. It's not your responsibility but it's your plant so I would say in the spirit of being neighborly and not starting a war, just cut it and make nice. These plant/tree wars on property lines never end well.

Neighbor knocked this morning and said that some bamboo in our yard is hanging over shared fence into their yard. It's weighted and wet from the weather and the neighbor is worried about damage to their lines. Is this our responsibility to do anything on their side of the fence?
