We have talked about this. No pasta salad.

A whole salmon, grilled or poached, can be a great centerpiece. You could complement it with boiled potatoes in butter and dill, a salad or two, and cabbage or roast broccoli.

Alternatively a nice ham or roast loin can be good. For a spanish theme get a jamon and make tortilla (spanish omelet), various tapas-y veggies and salads you could make ahead of time.

I like the salmon idea.
Why not pasta?

Pasta is OK. Pasta salad is not.

Fish is not everyone's favorite...i learned that with alot of leftovers unless you know your guests just love fish.

I love the traditional ham with angel biscuits. Plus ham is something most kids would eat too.
