Yes. We did group lessons for a sport for the last half of the school year. She really enjoyed the sport and looked forward to the lessons and asked for extra time to practice so this year we added one private lesson per week. She really enjoys it and is making a lot of progress so we feel it is worth the expense.

My kid doesn't have a sport, so no fucking personal coach needed.

Yes, sorry. Dropped the word NOT.

She saw the commitment involved and what she'd have to give up so chose not to do it.

No child needs a personal coach. Its just another luxury that Bethesda and Potomac types can afford and then flaunt it to other parents.

I hired a coach for DD in soccer around u12. The same horrible coach runs DC Stoddert travel program from u9 to u12. DD confidence was gone so I hired a young woman who worked with DD for a year once a week. She is now several years older and at top of another program. Sometimes it is good to have your kid work with a different coach to gain different perspective on the game or simply to build/rebuild confidence level.

Because the PP said:

I did this summer. My kid was determined to try out for a travel team so I got her some coaching.

She made the team but then decided to participate. Go figure.

Why would you comment that your kid made the team then DID decide to participate?

Why did you ask this question?

No, but in retrospect it would have been useful to have some individual coaching.

Start saving for a good physical therapist as well, 'cos your kid will need one after the personal coach runs them into the ground.

Seems like this is the new rage, like tutoring. I better save up DS is only 4.
