If you don't have passports...you aren't going to get them by Christmas. So, I would find a direct flight to Florida if I were you. Yesterday when the weather channel was showing the louzy weather all over the U.S....Miami seemed to be the only place that wasn't freezing. American Airlines flys there direct.

I actually enjoy Christmas for the cold weather, so being somewhere warm would be a bummer. Where you should go would depend on if you feel the same way (and your budget).

BTW, we were in Orlando last year (Dec 13-20) and the weather was NOT beach friendly. Easily in the 60's and some days felt even cooler.

Somewhere warm like Aruba or Hawaii, places like Florida is kinda hit or miss weather wise in the winter months.

I am going to Florida in earlyJanuary. Note that Xmas is peak season down there and I was blown away by the prices for hotels, airfare.

My child (2at the time) loved it as well! Plus all the decor, little trains, carousels, chestnut street vendors, etc. we had a great time.

I took my son to Paris in January when he was 4. Since then he has been to Atlantis and Hilton head and Paris remains his favorite destination. He loved the children's activities at the City of Science and industry. He also loved all the carousels and ice skating rinks all over the city.

She is not doing it for her 4y old, she is doing it for her. For the 4 y it is just a bonus.


Paris to a 4 year old will not be a 'bonus'. It will just be another cold, grey city. A bonus to a four year old is swimming in the ocean in December or patting dolphins or skiing/sledding in tons of snow and swimming in a heated pool at night under stars. Tickets to paris over the holiday week push $1,000. That's a lot of money to bring a 4 year old to a place they will not appreciate.

And, she isn't "doing it for her". She specifically said it was a family vacation and stated the ages of her children, which leads one to believe that she wanted advice keeping the ages of the children in mind. Read her post again.


I dunno. We tend to consider a trip to Europe as a family, a "family trip."

Op, you might prefer a beach vacation and that is fun too. But just wanted to let you know kids can have tons of fun in Paris or London during the winter as well. At lest mine had a blast.

I just found out I got the week of Christmas off. I work in a place where seniority gets first pick and only so many people are allowed off on the same week, so it was a surprise. We just visited family a month ago, and spent Thanksgiving break at home working on renovations. Now I am daydreaming about a family trip just the four of us (kids are 7 and 4.) Where would you go?
